Persian New Year chants in Tabriz

Persian New Year carnivals go on street parades in Tabriz.

With the Persian New Year approaching, some traditional celebrations are being held all over the city of Tabriz in Iran’s East Azarbaijan Province.

The last days of the Persian year 1400 are doubly special to Iranians as they have coincided with the religious eids of Sha’ban, the eighth month of the Islamic calendar, which mark the birth anniversary of some Imams.

Therefore, there are some happy ceremonies going on everywhere in the country.

The following photos show how carnival of ‘Promise of Spring’ (Navid-e Bahar) has jazzed up the streets of the city with its live music and cheerful colors.
